3 Trailers of the Week that rocked Youtube

News Desk |

Some eagerly anticipated films finally released their much-awaited trailers this week and we’re here to round up the three best ones.

Dark Phoenix

First up is the first official trailer for Dark Phoenix, a Marvel property from 20th Century Fox. Many believe this film to be the last official X: Men film from Fox, considering they gave away the rights to the characters to Disney which is in charge of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe and is in charge of heroes like Captain America, Black Panther, and the other Avengers. The trailer for Dark Phoenix sees mutant Jean Grey learn to explore her newfound abilities. In the comics, Jean Grey (Sophie Turner)’s powers became too strong and she turns against the X-Men.

The film acts as a sequel to the 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Holt, Michael Fassbinder, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Jessica Chastain, and James McAvoy. Although the comics and storyline of this film were previously explored in the 2006 movie X-Men: The Last Stand, the comic is being adapted again to be more faithful to the actual story. If successful, the film could serve as the first part of a Jean Grey centric trilogy. The film releases February next year.

Creed 2

The follow up to the 2015 film Creed promises to be another must-watch sports drama film. The first Creed film was a spin-off of sorts of the Rocky franchise and starred Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed, one of boxer Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone)’s most iconic opponents.

The sequel sees the Adonis Creed going up against the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the man who killed his father in the boxing ring when he was young. Making matters more complicated is his flourishing personal life and how that is colliding with his career as a boxer. The film stars Jordan, Stallone, Lundgren as well as Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Wood Harris, and Milo Ventimiglia. The film is set to be released this November.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Also releasing in November is the second film in Fantastic Beasts film series. The first film entitled ‘Fantastic Beasts And WhereTo Find Them’ came out in 2016 and the film was inspired by J.K Rowling’s 2001 book of the same name. The film is both a prequel and a spin-off to the Harry Potter series. The sequel, like the first film, details the adventures of ‘magizoologist’ Newt Scamander whose love for the magical creatures of the wizarding world puts him in crosshairs with the dark wizard Grindelwald.

The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Johnny Depp, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Zoe Kravitz and Jude Law in pivotal roles. The first film was a huge success for Warner Brothers, grossing more than $800 million worldwide, and became the first film in the Harry Potter film universe (called the ‘Wizarding World’) to win an Oscar. The trailer makes the film look darker and more action-packed than ever and if it’s any indication, The Crimes of Grindelwald is going to be just as big as the first film.
