3200 security staff expected to be deployed at PM Shehbaz’s residences

The news of the possible deployment of 3200 security personnel and guards at the residences of PM Sharif has sparked anger among social media users. The new government already faces criticism for extreme spending of public money on personal needs.

A recommendation has been moved to deploy 3200 security staff with modern security equipment at the two residences of PM Shehbaz Sharif.

The news comes a day after the three residences of PM Shehbaz Sharif were given the status of PM House. The three residences include the one in Model Town Lahore, the Raiwind residence, and the Central Secretariat. It is uncertain which of the residences will be used by Shehbaz Sharif.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif became the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan as he stood unopposed in National Assembly after PTI announced a boycott.

Now, the news of the possible deployment of 3200 security personnel and guards at the residences of PM Sharif has sparked anger among social media users. The new government is denounced for extreme spending of public money on personal needs.

Renowned author, Imtiaz Gul, commenting on the news revealed that the government of Sharifs had spent nearly Rs.700 million on reinforcing the security around Jati Umra.

Sharif family spends whopping amount on security

Back in 2015, Punjab Government had released Rs364.4 million for the Sharif family’s security in the Jati Umar town in Lahore. Funds of Rs283.2m for erecting a 4.4-kilometer fence. Reports state that ninety CCTV cameras and 100 LED Lights were installed with 20 elevated checkpoints.

According to sources, Rs197.2m were to be spent to set up the fence and checkpoints, while Rs86m on the purchase of security equipment. The government had released Rs27.1m for paying the police employees appointed for the security of the Sharif family.

In September 2015, Rs 54 million were released for the purchase of 14 vehicles for the security squad of the then CM Shehbaz Sharif. Up to, 2751 police officials had been appointed for the security of the then PM Nawaz Sharif, the CM, and their families.

The advocates of former PM Imran Khan have been comparing his austerity measure to save the public money and spend it on the welfare of the people.
