At least 36 officers of the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) have been sacked over alleged involvement in the Greece boat tragedy.
As per details, 13 FIA officials were found guilty of involvement in human smuggling, and cases have been registered against them. The FIA Director-General, Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir, oversaw the inquiry and ordered the dismissal of the 36 officers, including four inspectors, 10 sub-inspectors, two ASIs, five head constables, and 14 constables.
The FIA Director-General asserted that officials found guilty of offense and involved in illegal activities have no place in the organization. He assured that disciplinary action would be taken against those responsible for the boat tragedy.
According to sources, 19 FIA officers from Faisalabad Airport, three from Sialkot Airport, two from Lahore Airport, two from Islamabad Airport, and five from Quetta have been implicated in the scandal.
The FIA decided to put the names of all 31 officers on the passport control list, effectively banning them from traveling abroad.

The investigation, which is still going on, has revealed that 31 officers were involved in smuggling people to the ship that sank off the coast of Greece, resulting in the death of several Pakistanis. A total of nine Pakistanis lost their lives as the result of the sinking of the ship.
In December 2024, Pakistan mission in Greece confirmed at least five Pakistanis were killed in a migrant boat tragedy off the Greek island of Gavdos last week. Pakistani mission, however, confirmed that they do not have the authentic number of Pakistanis onboard the capsized boat.
One of the local media outlets claimed that nearly 40 Pakistanis had been killed in the unfortunate incident. As per the latest reports.
An official at the Pakistan mission in Greece said, “So far, we have information of five dead Pakistanis and another 47 who have been rescued. No concrete information about missing persons is with us, and this is the final information available at this time.”
