40 Green Line buses depart from China for Karachi!

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail announces on Twitter today that the first shipment of 40 Green Line buses is making its way to Karachi. He also thanked PM Khan for making the project possible. This did not go well with Twitteratis who accused the PTI government of stealing credit for Nawaz Sharif's work.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail announced that 40 Green Line buses are finally being loaded in China. The shipment of the first 40 buses will shortly reach Karachi.

According to details, the vessels docked departed the Tianjin port of China last night.

Through the new buses, the government will develop Sindh’s first mass transit system in Karachi. Taking to Twitter, Imran Ismail announced the news. He also thanked PM Imran Khan for making the venture possible.

“Green line first 40 buses being loaded in China. Inshallah, very soon Karachi will see the first mass transit system of Sindh. Thank you, PM Khan,” Imran Ismail tweeted.

Earlier this year, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, while giving good news to the citizens of Shahar-e-Qaeda, said that green buses will run this year. The Government issued tenders as well.

Furthermore, last year the federal government issued an international tender for the purchase of 80 buses for the Green Line Metro Bus project, after which there was hope for a Metro Bus in Karachi, the country’s largest city.

Green Line buses spark debate

While Karachi indeed needs a mass transit system since it is the country’s economic hub, many people have voiced doubts regarding the venture’s success.

According to Twitteratis, the government issued tenders, but there is no staff to operate the buses. Furthermore, residents are concerned that the buses need supervision, however, the “incompetent” government of Sindh will ruin the project due to a lack of maintenance.

“The project needs consistent oversight and supervision by Federal Government. Otherwise, the incompetent PPP will mess this up as they have done with all other public services. Already the condition of the bus stations is pathetic due to no maintenance,” wrote one Netizen.

As Sindh Governor Imran Ismail thanked PM Khan for the buses, many people criticized him and said all credit goes to PML-N’s leader Nawaz Sharif. They said PTI should be ashamed of stealing credit as the Green Line was part of the previous government’s plan for a mass transit system in Pakistan.
