72nd birthday of Imran Khan: Fans celebrate amid protests at D-Chowk

His passionate followers and supporters celebrated his birthday at D-Chowk in Islamabad last night, amid intense shelling by police and other law enforcement agencies. 

Social media is swamped with birthday wishes for former prime minister Imran Khan on his 72nd birthday.

Apart from his followers and supporters, the leading sports news outlets wished him a birthday on X. ESPN wishing him birthday said: “A Test bowling & batting average of 22.81 & 37.69 – sensational numbers but Imran Khan’s true greatness came from being an inspiring leader, headlined by the 1992 World Cup. The Pakistan legend turns 72 today.”

CricTracker wishing him a birthday wrote: “Happy Birthday to the Legendary Imran Khan! Imran Khan, a true cricket legend, led Pakistan to their first-ever World Cup title in 1992. Renowned for his leadership and all-rounder abilities, he’s celebrated as one of the greatest captains in cricket history.”

Another international sports outlet, Cricbuzz, wished Imran Khan a happy birthday: “Happy Birthday, Imran Khan! One of the greatest all-rounders of all time turns 72 today.”

From sports media outlets, his followers and supporters worldwide are expressing their love and admiration for him on social media. Meanwhile, his passionate followers and supporters celebrated his birthday at D-Chowk in Islamabad last night, amid intense shelling by police and other law enforcement agencies.

Supporters and followers had gathered at D-Chowk on the call of Imran Khan to protest against the proposed amendments in the constitution. To thwart the protest, police put barricades, and containers and attacked the protestors with intense shelling. The protest started on Friday and is entering its second day.

However, protestors and party workers are putting up a fight with police and are waiting for Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur to arrive at D-Chowk, Islamabad.

Incarcerated Imran Khan had instructed Ali Amin Gandapur to reach D-Chowk even if it took two days. As per the latest update, Ali Amin Gandapur has reached Islamabad along with the convoy.
