Qureshi, Fawad booked for fueling hate against state institutions

The fresh FIR has been lodged against Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhry on the complaint of the sub-inspector Race Course police station under charges of issuing threats, blocking roads, hate speech, and others.

PTI senior leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry have been booked in another case for allegedly inciting hatred among the public against state institutions.

The fresh FIR has been lodged against Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhry on the complaint of the sub-inspector Race Course police station under charges of issuing threats, blocking roads, hate speech, and others.

The FIR said PTI leaders Qureshi and Fawad held a press conference in Zaman Park on March 5, which resulted in blockage of Canal Road. It stated that Fawad made a provocative speech and incited the public against the government and state institutions.

FIR also mentioned Fawad accused state institutions of hatching an assassination plot against Imran Khan. It also mentioned that the PTI leader perpetrated a crime by disrupting the traffic on the road.

Reacting to the FIR, Fawad Chaudhry said PTI leaders are being booked in fake cases as per an agenda that aims to create a system like North Korea.

“Shah Mahmood Qureshi and I have been named in another FIR. Under an agenda, fake leaflets are being circulated on the leadership of Tehreek-e-Insaaf. Their aim is to strangle politics in Pakistan and create a system like Burma and North Korea. The next case will be overflying a kite or staring at the police from the roof,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

“Another day, another case. So now, apparently holding a press conference in Zaman Park is grounds for an FIR – as is criticizing the government. Well, in that case, bring it on,” Shah Mahmood Qureshi said.

On March 5, as news of the possible arrest broke, Fawad called on workers to gather at Zaman Park. Following this, a large number of party workers arrived at the Lahore residence of the PTI chief.

The PTI leader called the workers to start preparing for protest in case Khan is arrested. “If anything happens, we give a call for peaceful nationwide protests,” he added.

Fawad also alleged that the government is insisting Khan appear before the court in a bid to kill him. “Both federal and Punjab governments are different sides of the same coin,” he added.
