Abdul Razzaq has issued an apology for making a tasteless comment involving Indian actress Aishwarya Rai during a discussion on Pakistan cricket. Razzaq faced criticism for his inappropriate analogy, unrelated to the cricket-related discussion at the event where he was a guest speaker earlier this week.
While responding to a question about the team management’s impact on player development, Razzaq made a controversial remark involving Aishwarya Rai, stating, “If your thinking is that you marry Aishwarya Rai and expect a pious and virtuous child to be born, then that can never happen.”
Following the backlash, Razzaq expressed remorse in an apology circulating on social media, clarifying that his intention was to give a different example, and his words were a result of his tongue slipping. He stated, “At the press conference yesterday, there was a discussion on cricket, coaching and intention, but my tongue slipped and I took Aishwayrya jee’s name, while I was to give another example.”

Razzaq reiterated that it was not his intent to make the controversial analogy, apologized to Aishwarya Rai, and acknowledged the mistake, saying, “It was not my intent. I was supposed to give another example but took her name [by mistake].”
The former all-rounder’s comments at the press conference received widespread condemnation for the inappropriate analogy involving the Bollywood superstar. Netizens criticized Razzaq for his poor choice of words at a public event, emphasizing that the example he used was unrelated to the cricket discussion. The incident occurred with Razzaq in the company of fellow cricket veterans Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, and Saeed Ajmal.
As the video of Razzaq’s comments circulated on the internet, users expressed immediate disapproval of the tasteless analogy. Earlier, Shahid Afridi also apologized for laughing on his statements during the show.
