Asus’s next powerhouse gaming phone isn’t slated for release until early 2025, but it’s already making waves with its first-ever leak, courtesy of Android Police. The leak reveals that the ROG Phone 9 will come in both vanilla and Pro models. One of these models, identified by the code ASUSAI2501C, has surfaced online, though its specific variant remains unclear.

As a flagship gaming phone, it’s expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, set to debut at the Snapdragon Summit in October. Xiaomi 15 is likely to be the first to use this new SoC.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is rumored to hit clock speeds up to 4.00 GHz, with a prototype reportedly reaching 4.2 GHz. Industry insider Digital Chat Station suggests it could score up to 3,000 in single-core and 10,000 in multi-core tests, outpacing rivals like the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 and even Apple’s A17 Pro chip. However, final performance could exceed these prototype benchmarks.
