FO Denies Allegations of Missile Supply to Iran, Involvement in Bangladesh

Foreign Office firmly rejects false allegations of supplying missiles to Iran and involvement in Bangladesh crisis, addresses regional diplomacy, and celebrates national achievements.

On Friday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office firmly rejected a Jerusalem Post report alleging that the country plans to supply Iran with Shaheen-III medium-range ballistic missiles. Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch dismissed the claims as “patently false,” emphasizing the need to scrutinize the sources behind such baseless reports. “At this critical time in the Middle East, it is crucial that all parties, including the media, avoid spreading fake news,” Baloch stated during a weekly press briefing.

Baloch underscored that these reports are part of a broader narrative driven by malicious agendas and are not reflective of Pakistan’s actual policies. “This is an attempt to mislead and misrepresent our intentions,” she added. The spokesperson highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and its active participation in international discussions, including its support for ongoing humanitarian aid efforts for Palestine.

Rejection of Indian Involvement Claims

In a separate but related matter, the Foreign Office also addressed accusations from India claiming that Pakistan was involved in recent political upheavals in Bangladesh. Baloch described these claims as part of India’s “disturbing obsession” with Pakistan and rejected them outright. “Indian media and political figures have a habit of blaming Pakistan for their domestic and international shortcomings,” Baloch remarked.

The unrest in Bangladesh, which began with protests against job quotas, led to the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the formation of an interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus. Baloch emphasized that Pakistan has no role in these events and expressed support for the people of Bangladesh. “We stand in solidarity with Bangladesh and hope for a swift return to normalcy,” she said, commending the resilience of the Bangladeshi people.

Focus on Regional Diplomacy and Relations

During the briefing, Baloch also touched upon Pakistan’s active engagement in regional diplomacy. She noted that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister represented the country at an extraordinary OIC meeting concerning Palestine. “Our focus remains on supporting humanitarian efforts and strengthening diplomatic ties,” Baloch explained.

Additionally, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has been attentive to various international and domestic issues, including the recent Kashmir Exploitation Day observance and the ongoing discussions about the India-US defense cooperation bill. Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s stance on resolving the Kashmir issue according to United Nations Security Council resolutions and expressed hope for improved bilateral relations with the United States.

Celebrating Success and Expressing Solidarity

Amidst these political and diplomatic discussions, Baloch took a moment to congratulate Arshad Nadeem for winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, marking Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in 32 years. “Nadeem’s achievement is a source of national pride and a testament to our athletes’ dedication,” Baloch said.

The spokesperson also addressed the recent attack on former U.S. President Donald Trump by a Pakistani individual, assuring that Pakistani authorities are working closely with U.S. officials. Baloch expressed confidence in the Pakistani Embassy’s efforts to address the situation and maintain positive relations with the U.S. “Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all Pakistani citizens abroad,” she concluded.

This comprehensive response highlights Pakistan’s commitment to addressing false allegations, supporting regional stability, and celebrating national achievements, while reinforcing its stance on various international issues.
