Pakistan has strongly condemned recent terror attacks in Lebanon, holding Israel responsible for escalating tensions in the region. During a weekly briefing, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, expressed deep condolences to the families of victims affected by the unprecedented attacks on Hezbollah, which left over 30 people dead and thousands injured. The explosions, triggered by compromised electronic devices, have worsened the already volatile situation between Israel and Hezbollah, which has seen ongoing warfare since the Gaza war began last October.
The spokesperson emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She also urged the international community to take urgent steps in holding Israel accountable for what she described as acts of international terrorism. Pakistan has continuously called for upholding international law and condemned Israel’s aggressive actions that threaten regional peace.
Terrorism Through Cyber and Electronic Means
The recent explosions were triggered by compromised pagers used by Hezbollah, marking one of the most significant security breaches in the group’s history. Lebanese officials have pointed to Israel’s Mossad spy agency as the mastermind behind planting explosives in the devices, which Hezbollah had imported months prior. The attack on Hezbollah, one of the most powerful armed groups in Lebanon, has left its leadership and infrastructure in disarray, especially with the group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah expected to address the crisis.

Pakistan condemned the use of cyber and electronic means to conduct acts of terrorism, calling it a reprehensible tactic that further destabilizes the region. The Foreign Office reiterated that terrorism in any form is unacceptable, and such methods of violence only exacerbate tensions and endanger lives.
Call for International Accountability
In addition to its condemnation of the attacks in Lebanon, Pakistan criticized Israel’s September 12 air strikes on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of 18 people, including six United Nations staff members. Pakistan’s Foreign Office described these airstrikes as horrifying and unlawful, highlighting that such acts violate international law and humanitarian principles.
Pakistan has consistently voiced its support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, calling for the full implementation of the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) advisory opinions on the illegal nature of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories. The country has urged for an immediate ceasefire and the provision of essential humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, as part of a broader appeal for peace in the region.
