The helicopter of Mari Petroleum crashed in North Waziristan on Saturday. The accident has claimed six lives so far.
The cause of the helicopter crash is said to be due to a technical fault. Police have initially ruled out the possibility of terrorism. The Mi-8 helicopter was carrying 2 foreign pilots and 14 passengers. 6 people have died and 8 are injured so far in the crash.
The three pilots are said to be from Russia. “The helicopter crashed due to engine failure,” the spokesperson for Mari Petroleum confirmed, adding that there was no evidence of sabotage involved in the crash.
According to the company spokesperson, the helicopter used for personal transport to the company’s Shewa block crashed due to engine failure. Initial reports suggest that the helicopter’s tail rotor hit the ground while attempting an emergency landing. The impact caused significant damage, causing fatalities.

The injured have been immediately shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Thal for treatment. The condition of the injured passengers is reported to be critical. However, further news regarding their health is awaited.
