Following his confirmation of his return to Pakistan, former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Ishaq Dar has been issued a new Pakistani passport.
Dar stated that he would return to Pakistan in the next 10-12 days after completing his current treatment.
Affirming that he would take oath as a senator upon his return to Pakistan and assumption of the position of finance minister, Ishaq Dar said it was up to the party to decide who should be given responsibility for what aspects of the country’s economic policies.

Defending his release on bail, Dar claimed that former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had brought only one case against him. He called the case a “fake.”
Hence, when Pakistan’s government approached Interpol for my extradition, the documents shared with Interpol turned out to be completely unsubstantiated,” he said, adding that the international body had exonerated him of all charges.
Furthermore, he stated that the case against him was based on his tax returns and that he had never delayed filing taxes.
If the party leadership decides to replace Miftah Ismail as Finance Minister with Ishaq Dar, Ismail has stated that he would gladly step down to make room for the latter.
