SP Tahir Dawar was tortured to death, a post-mortem report of slain has revealed on Wednesday. Superintendent of Police, Tahir Dawar went missing from Islamabad on the evening of October 26 and his dead body was received from Afghanistan on Nov 15.
He was abducted allegedly by Daesh–as a note attached to his dead body carried the name of ‘Wilayat Khorasan’; a term militant organization Daesh uses for the Pak-Afghan region–taken to Afghanistan and was killed there in eastern Nangarhar province.
Known for his bravery, Dawar had survived two suicide attacks while he was posted in Bannu when militancy was at its peak.
The post-mortem report of SP Dawar shows that he was starved and kept thirsty for days before he was killed. It also discloses that there was no firearm injury on the body of the slain, but there are several marks of severe torture. He was killed few days before his body was found, reveals report.
Post-mortem report has been handed over to the Islamabad Police by the medical team. SP Dawar hailed from North Waziristan and started his carrier in 1995 as assistant sub-inspector in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. He was recently posted as Rural SP in Peshawar. Before that, he had served as DSP Fakirabad.

He also served in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and was posted at the Peshawar International Airport. Known for his bravery, Dawar had survived two suicide attacks while he was posted in Bannu when militancy was at its peak.
Nation, the political elite, and top government functionaries condemned his brutal murder. The Islamabad Chief Commissioner has formed a joint investigation team– of seven members– who is currently probing the abduction and martyrdom of SP Tahir Khan Dawar.
