In a now-deleted tweet, Abrar-ul-Haq explained that he had signed the contract for the concert months before the 9th May incident. He was bound to perform due to his contractual obligations. Singer Annie Khalid also supported his stance in a tweet.

While responding to the questions about leaving politics and crying in the presser he said that he had been attached to the party for the past 15 years and had memories with the party leaders and workers. He did not want to leave politics but the incidents that followed after 9th May had left him disturbed hence he decided to quit politics for a while.

In a video posted on his Twitter account on May 19th, Abrar-ul-Haq said that police had raided his house and arrested his domestic workers. They also harassed and threatened his family and children. Haq said that he has always called for peaceful protests and does not know what was his crime.
