Actor Shaan Shahid complains after being denied to cast vote

Actor Shaan Shahid in his latest tweet protested against not being allowed to vote on Sunday 17th July in his constituency in Punjab by-poll elections.

He posted a tweet on Monday in which he complained he could not vote because of the alleged change, a complaint reportedly rampantly in the by-poll,-in the voter list. The actor said that he was able to find his name at a polling station after searching for two hours. Shahid said that the security staff did not allow him to vote even when there were ten minutes left for the polling to end.

“Jhmooriat ki Shaan. Awaam bayzubaan ..couldn’t cast my vote after searching for 2 hrs for the place my vote was registered @ I finally reached @4:50 But was denied the right to vote .. reason polling time is 5 pm.. this is the true worth of people’s vote 5min,” said Shaan Shahid in his tweet.

He expressed regret and remorse over how people were denied their constitutional rights due to mismanagement and change in the voter’s list. Replying to one of the comments on his post, he said: “It was all chaos .. it’s sad though people of Pakistan should not be treated this way.”

The actor said after being refused to vote, he insisted the police officers let him in the polling vote since there was time left. However, upon their refusal, he left the place.

Shaan Shahid was not the only one who complained regarding struggling to find his polling stations. Social media was inundated with people claiming how they failed to cast their vote due to the mismanagement and change in the voter’s list.

Other celebrities also reacted to the win of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf in the Punjab by-elections. Cricketer Muhammad Hafeez reacting to the election results said, “People of Pakistan given a strong verdict on their political awareness & maturity in #Elections2022. Let’s see how our political leaders will take this result. Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI & all his political workers. Once again big responsibility to deliver for the people of.”
