Renowned actress Atiqa Odho has been acquitted in liquor recovery case after 9 years. The liquor case came up for hearing in the civil court Islamabad on Friday. The court while reading out the verdict after 9 years, 2 months, and 14 days has acquitted Atiqa Odho with honor in the 2 bottle liquor recovery case. The court has said in its verdict that there is no evidence against the actress, therefore, she is acquitted.
Civil Judge Yasir Chaudhry announced the judgment on merit. Reacting to decision Atiqa Odho said justice has been administered to me though late. It may be mentioned when Atiqa was flying from Benazir Bhutto airport Islamabad to Karachi, the customs authority had claimed to recover 2 bottles of foreign liquor from her possession.

On suo motu notice by the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry, airport police had registered a case against the actress on the report of the customs officer.
A Rawalpindi civil court acquitted Atiqa Odho in a 9 year old case in which she was accused of carrying two liquor bottles in her luggage at an airport. 210 hearings took place in this case and while 16 judges were changed during 9 years. The Supreme Court had allowed trial court on September 17, 2017, to hear the case against the actress in connection with the recovery of liquor from her.
A 3-member bench of Supreme Court presided over by Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan heard the case. Ali Zafar counsel for Atiqa Odho argued the statements of all the witnesses named in the case have been recorded except for Atiqa Odho. We filed appeals in subordinate courts but our appeals were rejected without assigning any reason.

The court inquired do you mean the subordinate courts issued only decisions regarding the rejection of appeals and they wrote nothing more in the verdicts. The case ran for 9 years and on Friday the court while announcing verdict acquitted Atiqa Odho in the case.
