Authorities in Adiala jail have refused to transfer Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala to the jail citing security concerns.
Moreover, there is no further capacity to accommodate Bushra Bibi in jail as there are already 250 female prisoners incarcerated. The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad has not given his reply to the court. Meanwhile, the prosecutor has asked for time to submit his reply.
Responding to the request, the hearing has been adjourned for two weeks. The wife of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, was arrested by female police in the Toshakhana case outside Adiala jail.
In December 2023, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) issued a final call-up notice to Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. She was summoned to appear before the Rawalpindi office in Islamabad on December 11 regarding the Toshakhana case.
According to the notice, it is alleged that during Imran Khan’s term as prime minister, Bushra Bibi accepted and kept gifts from foreign dignitaries valued at millions of rupees. This action purportedly breached the established protocols for managing such gifts.

Imran Khan has been incarcerated in jail since last year. He has been sentenced in various cases including the May 9th cases. Khan was not allowed to contest elections. The party symbol was also taken back from them.
Meanwhile, PTI-backed candidates are leading the National Assembly as of now. 86 candidates have joined the Sunni Ittehad Council.
Addressing the public, Imran expressed gratitude for their participation in the democratic process. He attributed the failure of what he referred to as the “London plan” and the opposition’s premature victory claims to the overwhelming voter turnout. Imran dismissed Nawaz Sharif’s victory speech, emphasizing that the true outcome of the elections was yet to be determined. The AI speech was posted from his official X account.
The party is also planning to hold intra-party elections on March 3rd, 2024. Imran Khan has nominated Barrister Ali Zafar for the chairmanship. Omar Ayub will remain the General Secretary of the party.
