AIOU ready to shift academic operation from manual to automation

The process will be completed within a period of 15 months with the smart use of new technology. The automation will be applied to its all operation, including handling academic assignments, undertaking admissions and conducting examination.

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced that it will shift its academic operation from manual to automation through a gradual process, in line with prevailing international practices.

The process will be completed within a period of 15 months with the smart use of new technology. The automation will be applied to its all operation, including handling academic assignments, undertaking admissions and conducting examination.

The automation will help the mega university to smoothly handle the huge task of meeting the educational needs of over 1.4 million students annually. It is also aimed at bringing efficiency and transparency in the students’ related services and improving the quality of education.

According to the director admissions, the ongoing admissions for the registration in the higher education’s programs will continue till August 19.

In the ongoing admission process, the students of higher education, BS (Face-to-Face) M.Phil and Ph.D were being facilitated to take admissions in AIOU’s through online registration.

While addressing an academic conference, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Ziaul Qayyum announced that the technology will be the steering-force behind all the university’s operations. He assured that the technology-based operation will be student-friendly and it would help to bring about qualitative improvement in the university’s overall working.

According to the director admissions, the ongoing admissions for the registration in the higher education’s programs will continue till August 19. He said that the university’s 49 regional offices across the country have been directed to facilitate the students in the admission process.

AIOU Rehiring 40,000 Tutors for ODL System

In May, it was reported that AIOU has decided, to upgrade its distance learning programs. In a press release, it had announced that well-qualified persons would be appointed as the university’s part-time tutors in order to enhance the quality of Open-Distance Learning (ODL) system.

Reportedly, the AIOU had started a fresh process of tutors’ registration across the country. Currently, there are around 40,000 tutors all around the country for one six-month semester. Now, an E-registration process has been set in place for the purpose.
