With strong financial backing, experienced leadership, and a focus on regional connectivity, the airline is set to bring new opportunities for passengers and the economy.
Laying the Foundations
The groundwork for Air Karachi has already been laid, with the company officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). Preparing for Takeoff
Air Karachi plans to begin operations with three leased aircraft, focusing on efficient and reliable service. The project is being launched with a substantial investment of Rs. 5 billion, contributed by a group of prominent business leaders. Each shareholder has invested Rs. 50 million, demonstrating significant confidence in the airline’s potential to make a lasting impact on Pakistan’s aviation market.
Steering the Vision
The airline’s leadership team is headed by retired Air Vice Marshal Imran, a former Southern Commander, who will serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). His extensive experience in aviation and strategic leadership is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Air Karachi’s operational success.
The venture is supported by some of Karachi’s most respected industrialists and businessmen, including Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, SM Tanveer, Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani. These influential figures bring not only financial resources but also decades of expertise, ensuring the airline is well-positioned to thrive in a competitive market.
Taking Flight Towards Growth
The launch of Air Karachi is expected to have a far-reaching impact on Pakistan’s economy. By creating new jobs and improving connectivity, the airline will enhance regional travel options and stimulate growth in the aviation sector. It also aligns with a broader trend in the industry, as other new airlines, such as Jet Green, Q Airways, and Go Green Air, have also applied for operational licenses.
According to officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the surge in airline applications is a positive indicator for Pakistan’s economy. The entry of new players like Air Karachi is expected to boost competition, improve passenger services, and generate foreign exchange, creating a more dynamic aviation landscape.
Renewing the Skies
The emergence of Air Karachi comes at a time when Pakistan’s aviation sector is witnessing renewed activity. Established airlines such as Airblue, SereneAir, and AirSial are already operating domestically, while other carriers like Air Indus are exploring a return to the skies. Additionally, the national carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) recently achieved a departure and arrival performance ratio of 89.32%, as noted in the CAA’s six-month report for 2023.

This renewed interest in aviation is anticipated to drive service improvements across the board. Air Karachi’s arrival, in particular, is expected to challenge existing operators to enhance their offerings and efficiency, benefiting passengers nationwide.
