Akcent hints at singing the next PSL anthem, fans get excited

His tweet excited his followers and cricket fans in Pakistan. Fans hope that the inclusion of a foreign artist in the league will boost its popularity.

Romanian singer Akcent hints at singing the anthem for the next Pakistan Super League (PSL) season on Wednesday. In a tweet this week, the singer teases that he might be singing or producing the anthem for PSL 7 or PSL 8.

His tweet excited his followers and cricket fans in Pakistan. Fans hope that the inclusion of a foreign artist in the league will boost its popularity.

But fans have requested him to remake the PSL 6 anthem. To which, Akcent asked his Pakistani fans that they should make their request a Twitter trend, and perhaps they may consider the request.

The Romanian singer has always received a warm reception in Pakistan. He also celebrated Sindh Culture Day. The singer posted his picture wearing an ajrak on his Twitter account.

Earlier, the singer had sent best wishes to former Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Asif Ghafoor on his promotion to the rank of the Lieutenant-General on Wednesday.

The singer took to his Twitter account to extend felicitation to Lt. Gen Ghafoor on his promotion. “Congratulations to you my friend for being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General @peaceforchange I can’t wait to have the Fantastic cup of tea again. #AsifGhafoor #ISPR #Akcent” wrote the singer on his Twitter account.

The tweet had generated delightful appreciation from Pakistanis across the globe. Pakistani Twitter used the opportunity to mock India and Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman on social media. The catchphrase, ‘fantastic tea’ became viral on social media after Wing Commander Abhinandan uttered it on a video after he was captured by Pakistan Army after his jet was shot down in Pakistani territory.

Last year, Akcent had met the then DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor in Pakistan. The singer had shared the video of his visit to ISPR Headquarters on his Twitter account, which showed DG ISPR and Adrian Sena warmly embracing each other.

As of now, there has been a massive backlash against the PSL 6 anthem, ‘Groove Mera’ on social media. Strong reactions came on social media regarding the song. Twitter users including celebrities heavily weighed in on the issue, some even engaging in fierce and savage debates.
