The makers of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ have released a new song ‘Hu Ba Hu’ today. The song depicts the journey of Sonam Kapoor and Akshay Kumar towards the joint cause of transforming a village and educating women around menstrual hygiene.
‘Hu Ba Hu’ is composed and also sung by Amit Trivedi. Rajiv Sundaresan and Suhas Sawant have also given their voice to the song. The lyrics courtesy goes to Kausar Munir.
Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna has produced the new film ‘PadMan’.
On the release of the first song from ‘Padman’, the actor said the movie is projected to guide and teach young girls about hygiene.
In an interview to an international news agency Twinkle Khanna said: “I am hopeful that something that has been hidden in the darkness… will finally be in the spotlight so that a young girl can go up to her parents and say that she needs sanitary pads over the ubiquitous fairness creams.”
Akshay Kumar plays a Tamil Nadu based activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who produced low-cost sanitary pads for the young girls living in the village.

Padman is an adaptation of a short story written by Twinkle Khanna in her second book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. Padman is slated for a 26th January release.
Akshay Kumar popularly known as the action hero has performed in multiple comedies since the beginning of his career. However, the actor has modified his approach towards addressing the social causes in his movie in the later part of his acting career.

His previous release, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ was meant to raise awareness on toilet use and encourage people in India to use the toilet. On the release of the first song from ‘Padman’, the actor said the movie is projected to guide and teach young girls about hygiene.
“‘With Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ we had shown it (film) on Doordarshan channel, the government is also doing a good job by taking the film in a pen-drive and showing it in villages so that more people can see the film and understand it.”

“We will do something similar for this film (Padman). Our aim is not to earn money through the film but it should reach more people, more places where it is needed. We will also take the help of the government,” Akshay said while talking to media.
