Ali Amin Gandapur becomes CM of KPK

He made a fervent call for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Ali Amin Gandapur, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, made a fervent call for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Friday, accusing him of complicity in what he deemed the usurpation of his party’s electoral victory in the general elections held on February 8. Gandapur, who recently ascended to the position of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), articulated his demands during a speech to fellow lawmakers, pledging to fulfill the expectations set forth by the PTI’s founder.

In a passionate address, Gandapur decried the perceived injustices suffered by PTI leaders, likening their plight to suppression under fascist regimes. He passionately asserted the need for genuine freedom, citing the prolonged struggle of his party’s leader, Imran Khan, and urging for Khan’s release from incarceration, advocating for a fair trial. Gandapur emphasized the PTI’s stance on seeking systemic reforms rather than retribution, stressing the imperative of a transparent and equitable governance framework in the country.

Highlighting grievances regarding electoral malpractice and the suppression of dissent, Gandapur lamented the loss of the PTI’s election symbol and restrictions on advocating for the rights of Kashmiri people. Asserting their entitlement to justice and representation, he called upon the state to redress these grievances promptly.

Commitment to good governance

Gandapur underscored the imperative of restoring the PTI’s electoral mandate and called for the resignation of the CEC amid allegations of electoral irregularities. He urged for leniency towards female PTI candidates facing legal repercussions and advocated for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate recent incidents.

Promising a commitment to integrity and anti-corruption measures, Gandapur outlined his vision for bolstering the economic prospects of KP, prioritizing revenue generation without burdening the populace. He pledged initiatives aimed at empowering women, facilitating legal aid, and fostering economic opportunities through trade and business development to alleviate unemployment.
