Ali Zafar says was targeted for personal gains in sexual harassment case

Singer Ali Zafar has stated that he was attacked for in sexual harassment case through an organized plan for personal gains. He expressed his concerns while talking to media outside the session court in Lahore on Saturday. He was present at the court for the hearing of his defamation suit filed against Meesha Shafi over sexual harassment allegations.

Talking to media, Zafar said, “I am truthful and those who are honest appear without being called.” “There was a social media campaign against me and I have taken this up with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA),” the singer said.

Zafar further said, “Meesha’s lawyer has been following and retweeting fake accounts.” “Those who accused me leveled the allegations for personal gains and then went to Canada. The truth is that I was targeted through an organized plan for personal gains,” he stated.

“Meesha’s case was dismissed as was her appeal,” he stated. “My case is that of compensation, it has been a year and our witnesses have appeared eight times.” “The case should be decided fast so my truth and their lies can be revealed,” Zafar said.

Pop icon Ali Zafar had sent a defamation notice to Meesha Shafi after she hurled accusations at him for sexually harassing her on more than one occasion. Ali Zafar in his legal notice has called Meesha Shafi’s claim as a ‘reckless allegation’ and has demanded an apology along with a fine of Rs.100 million.

A defamation suit will be fined against Meesha Shafi if she fails to apologize and delete the tweet dated 19th April 2018, within two weeks of the notice being served. Singer-cum-actor Meesha Shafi has appointed Muhammad Ahmad Pansota and Nighat Dad as legal counsels to oversee issues pertaining to her sexual harassment claim against Ali Zafar.

Meesha Shafi said, “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar.”
