A tragic incident unfolded in Punjab’s Jaranwala town where a young woman lost her life due to a fatal gunshot inflicted by her uncle, suspected of illicit relations. The unfortunate event took place in the vicinity of Chak 380 GB, under the jurisdiction of Rodala police station. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to the hospital, 22-year-old Sanam Bibi succumbed to her injuries en route.
Upon notification, SP Jaranwala Abid Hussain Zafar, DSP Jaranwala, and SHO Rodala Road promptly reached the scene. The police secured the deceased’s body, which was later transferred to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. Currently, a search operation is underway to locate the accused uncle, who absconded following the incident.

Regrettably, incidents of honor killings persist in Punjab, reflecting a distressing trend. Just last October, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy were purportedly murdered by the girl’s father in the Kahna area of Lahore. Farah, aged 17, had eloped with Adnan Maseeh three days prior, causing significant distress to her family.
The father took advantage of an opportunity to fatally shoot the victims, who succumbed to their gunshot wounds. Police intervened, moving the bodies to a morgue for autopsy and initiating an investigation with forensic evidence collected from the crime scene.
Similarly, in July of the previous year, a man in Havali Nathu Wala village allegedly shot and killed his two daughters, Alisha and Nadia, suspecting them of misconduct. Upon receiving reports of the incident, police arrived at the scene, transferring the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital for further examination. However, the accused managed to flee before law enforcement’s arrival, prompting a search operation to detain him.

Earlier, in May 2022, two sisters, both Spanish nationals, were reportedly murdered by relatives for seeking divorce from their husbands. Despite returning to their hometown in Gujrat at the family’s behest, they met a tragic end at the hands of their own kin.
