The Ambassador of Cuba to Pakistan reacts to the disrespectful mention of the country by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal in his presser in Lahore on Sunday.
PMLN Leader and Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal in his press conference, commenting about the economy of Pakistan, said that the government does not want to make Pakistan like Cuba or North Korea. Iqbal said that if Pakistan wants to be a strong country, it needs a strong economy. “We have to set Pakistan on the path of [development, like] Malaysia, Turkey, China, and South Korea.” He added that he does not want Pakistan to turn into Cuba or North Korea.
Ambassador of Cuba Zener Caro reacted to the presser of Ahsan Iqbal. The ambassador said the statements of Ahsan Iqbal do not reflect the sentiments of the people of Pakistan, in a tweet on Monday morning. Caro added that Pakistan has a deep affection for Cuba.

“Fortunately, Minister Ahsan Iqbal’s (@betterpakistan) disrespectful mention of Cuba in his press conference in Lahore does not represent and has nothing to do with Pakistanis’ true respect and deep affection for Cuba,” said Ambassador Zener Caro in his tweet.

Ahsan Iqbal responded to the statements of Ambassador Zener Caro. He said that Pakistan has a deep affection for Cuba. He mentioned the humanitarian assistance provided by Cuban doctors during the tragic earthquake that hit Pakistan in 2005.
