American business man offers to buy K-electric

Pakistani business magnate Ali Shekhani has announced his intention to purchase K-Electric, the sole power supplier for the country’s financial hub, Karachi. Shekhani, who is based in the US, made this announcement via a social media post shared by the JDC Foundation. He expressed his desire to acquire K-Electric to address Karachi’s prolonged power outages amid the extreme heat.

Shekhani criticized the persistent load shedding, which has coincided with a significant increase in fatalities due to the ongoing extreme weather conditions. According to data from the Edhi Foundation, the city received 568 bodies between June 21 and June 25, compared to an average of around 40 per day. Shekhani emphasized that his motive for purchasing K-Electric is to serve the people of Karachi rather than for financial gain, and his gesture has been met with gratitude from the public.

According to details, in a video statement that appeared on social media, businessman Ali Shekhani said: “For the last four days, my marketing team and I have been tagged to buy K-Electric.”

In the video statement, Shekhani mentioned that he had directed his team to inform him whether K-Electric has been sold or is about to be sold and what the procedure is to buy this electric supply company in Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi.
