Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and member National Assembly, Aamir Liaqat Hussain have claimed that Karachi was not important to Prime Minister Imran Khan and PTI. The controversial lawmaker and televangelist from Karachi, expressed his reservations against the party while speaking to the private channel. He rebelled against the party’s senior leadership over the Governor House meeting snub.
While accusing the premier of ignoring the party, Liaquat remarked that PM ignored Karachi and despite his numerous attempts, he failed to contact the PTI chairman to visit the city to lay a floral wreath at the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam. He showed displeasure over party’s complete ignorance of leaders from Karachi and the province for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker Nation assembly.
Amir Liaqat has been an extremely outspoken & controversial figure, always unaware of his boundaries, with a meager sense of judgment, which even Vawda pointed out after his public rants.
“The overwhelming victory in Karachi was not only due to Khan’s leadership, rather it was certain personalities in the city which secured victory for the party”, he asserted. He criticized PM Khan for not making efforts at the local government level to strengthen the party’s position for the upcoming local union council elections.
Though, for now, he decides to remain part of the party and its Karachi’s chapter, but, did mention that there are some likeminded individuals from the city who stands by him. Nevertheless, he elaborated that he would make his decision before the presidential elections whether he would remain part of the government or join the opposition.

Before this interview on the private channel, PTI’s most controversial lawmaker alleged that the newly-sworn in Governor Imran Ismail and the local leadership of Karachi did not invite him to a meeting at the Governor House. In a Twitter message on Tuesday, he alleged that “I would clear my position first. All the MNAs and MPAs of Karachi are part of the meeting being held at the Governor House in Karachi, but, for some reason, I have not been called upon. It does not matter. This is what happens in these types of affairs.”
The PTI leader from Karachi, Faisal Vawda dismissed Liaquat’s outburst, and termed it an emotional rant, and advised the public, to not take his words seriously. In a quick rebuttal against Vawda’s statement, Liaquat warned that you [PTI] will soon take me seriously. PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed Khan has reacted to the allegations and said that he would implore Aamir Liaquat to think of Pakistan and rise above his own interest for the larger interest of the nation.
In government, PTI would face many instances given the fact party picked up the abandoned garbage of other parties for being electable. If the party does not get the optics right, and such circus continues on social media, despite Pm Khan‘s impressive and inspirational maiden speech, educated middle-class voters of PTI will get disappointed in the government.
“If he thinks, he could have won in Karachi, then he should have contested independently. People of Karachi have voted for Imran Khan’s ideology”, he added. The threatening antics of Liaquat are nothing new. There was a widespread uproar on social media and even among the PTI ranks over his inclusion in the party. PTI’s lower tier leadership in Karachi was seemingly discontent and showed remorse over with the decision to accept the highly controversial figure in the party.
His decision to criticize Mr. Khan’s austerity drive on the 12th day of Imran’s premiership was a complete nonsense. A narcissistic with a history of altercation with his previous employers in TV and expulsion from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for violating party policy, was always going to be baggage for the incumbent government.

Only months prior to the elections, before joining PTI, Liaqat condemned and loathed Imran Khan publically on private channels and in newspaper columns. Despite this, party leadership risked the induction of personality like him which can put the repute and brand value of the party on the brink.
Amir Liaqat has been an extremely outspoken & controversial figure, always unaware of his boundaries, with a meager sense of judgment, which even Vawda pointed out after his public rants. PTI would have to solve the issue pertaining Liaquat intelligently, and quickly, otherwise, the remarks of this demagogue would perplex the party workers and the general public.
