Known for his role in The Amazing Spider-Man, Garfield shared his thoughts on the latest episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, hosted by Josh Horowitz, which aired on October 10. Garfield emphasized that our “hearts and energy” should be with those suffering in Gaza and all who are oppressed globally.

The actor, currently promoting his romantic drama We Live in Time alongside Florence Pugh, spoke at New York’s 92nd Street Y. While Garfield has shown previous support for Palestinians, this conversation made his stance even clearer. He expressed deep sympathy for those affected by the ongoing conflict in Palestine, highlighting the need to direct attention and compassion toward them.
According to AP News, the current violence in Gaza marks the deadliest period in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As of August, the United Nations reported that over 40,000 Palestinians had died in the past year, according to statistics from Gaza’s health ministry.
During the interview, when asked about personal needs, Garfield shifted the focus, emphasizing the importance of helping those in Gaza: “We should be putting our energy toward something that actually matters… Maybe the lives of Palestinians in Gaza right now. Maybe that’s where we put our hearts and our energy.”
He continued, “Anyone suffering, anyone oppressed under the weight of the horrors of our world — anyone who doesn’t have a choice in living lives of dignity — that’s where our energy should be going right now.”
