The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) apprehended a Brazilian woman at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport for attempting to smuggle 1.396 kilograms of cocaine into Pakistan. The authorities found the drugs concealed in plastic pouches hidden inside her undergarments. The total value of the seized cocaine is estimated at over Rs13.9 million. Following her arrest, a case was registered against the suspect under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and ANF officials have initiated further investigations to determine whether she is part of a larger international drug trafficking network.

Sophisticated Smuggling Tactics Foiled

The ANF officials noted that drug trafficking organizations continue to use increasingly sophisticated methods to smuggle narcotics across borders. In this case, the smuggler’s use of undergarments to hide the cocaine represents one of the more inventive tactics used by traffickers. However, the ANF’s vigilance and thorough screening procedures led to the foiling of this smuggling attempt. Despite these sophisticated methods, the ANF remains resolute in its commitment to combating the illegal drug trade.

Recent Successes in Anti-Smuggling Operations

This arrest is part of the ANF’s ongoing battle against drug trafficking. In recent weeks, the force has successfully seized drugs worth over Rs4.2 million in separate operations across the country. Thirteen suspects have been arrested, and authorities have recovered a total of 37 kilograms of narcotics, including hashish and crystal meth, from various locations.

A notable operation was carried out near a university in Islamabad, where the ANF arrested a suspect with 90 grams of hashish. The suspect admitted during interrogation that the drugs were intended for distribution among students. This highlights the ANF’s continued focus on preventing narcotics from entering educational institutions, an area that has become a growing concern.

Peshawar Airport Smuggling Incident

In another significant development, a man named Iqbal Hussain was arrested at Peshawar airport for attempting to smuggle 1.210 kilograms of crystal meth (commonly referred to as ICE) concealed in boxes of sweets and chocolates. His arrest, along with the seizure of cocaine in Karachi, brings the total amount of narcotics recovered in these recent operations to 2.376 kilograms.
