AP Dhillon safe after gunshots fired at his home in Vancouver Island

"I'm safe, and my people are safe. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me. Your support means everything," Dhillon wrote on Instagram.

A day after gunshots were fired outside AP Dhillon’s home on Vancouver Island in Canada, the Punjabi singer assured fans on Monday that “he is safe.” Reports indicate that Rohit Godara, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility for the incident.

“I’m safe, and my people are safe. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me. Your support means everything,” Dhillon wrote on Instagram.

A post circulating online purportedly from the gangster, Rohit Godara, alleges that the shootings occurred at two locations in Canada—Victoria Island and Woodbridge, Toronto. According to the post, the attack on Dhillon’s home was in response to his featuring actor Salman Khan in a music video. The post also includes death threats directed at the singer, as claimed by the individual associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Gunshots were fired into the home of Victoria-based singer, music producer, and rising Punjabi music star AP Dhillon early Monday morning.

By Monday afternoon, the house on the 3300-block of Ravenwood Road in suburban Colwood on Vancouver Island had become a crime scene, with bullet holes visible and a burned truck in the driveway. The garage door was slightly dented, and a glass staircase railing inside had shattered. Outside, there was a faint smell of melted plastic, but the home was not cordoned off, and no police were present.

A video shared by Indian media outlets showed an individual firing 14 shots into the front windows and garage of the home while a black truck and a smaller vehicle burned. Diane Read, a neighbor, said she was awakened by the sound of gunfire, noting, “I knew it wasn’t firecrackers.”

As she moved to her upstairs kitchen window, she saw a car speeding down Ravenwood Road. She then noticed “little balls of flame” around a truck in the neighboring driveway, which had been burned beyond repair by the time emergency responders arrived. The vehicle was identified as a Dodge 1500 eTorque, and a second car, a Roadster-type vehicle, was also burned.

The only person inside the house at the time, Indo-Canadian rapper Shinda Kahlon, a close associate of Dhillon, was unharmed. Two neighbors reported that their security cameras captured a black vehicle driving around the cul-de-sac at 1:08 a.m., around the time the gunshots were heard.

Police arrived minutes later and closed off the street for several hours.
