Arijit Singh Surpasses Taylor Swift as Most-Followed Artist on Spotify

Singh’s popularity has grown steadily over the years, with him previously making history as the first Indian singer to achieve 100 million listens on Spotify.

Indian musician Arijit Singh has officially surpassed pop culture icon Taylor Swift to become the most-followed artist globally on Spotify. Singh now boasts over 118.8 million followers on the streaming platform, with Swift trailing closely behind at around 118.78 million.

This isn’t the first time Singh has overtaken Swift; he briefly held the top spot around this time last year before the American singer reclaimed her position, as reported by The Indian Express.

Singh’s popularity has grown steadily over the years, with him previously making history as the first Indian singer to achieve 100 million listens on Spotify.

Both Singh and Swift dominate the charts, outpacing other leading artists such as Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and BTS. A.R. Rahman is the only other Indian artist in the top 20, currently holding the 20th spot.

This time last year, Singh briefly overtook Swift in terms of Spotify followers, but the American artist ‘swiftly’ reclaimed her top spot on the list, according to The Indian Express.

Over the years, the Indian singer has enjoyed some major traction. Singh previously made history as the first Indian singer to reach 100 million Spotify listens.

Singh and Swift are both positioned above other prominent names like Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and BTS. A.R. Rahman is the only other Indian artist in the top 20, currently ranking at No. 20.
