Army called in to control chaos at Jal concert in Bangladesh

Videos of the concert circulating on social media showed fans singing the most famous song of the band, 'Woh Lamhey' along with lead singer and performer Gohar Mumtaz.

Management was forced to call in the Army to control the chaos at the concert of the Pakistani band Jal in Bangladesh. The band was performing after 14 years in Bangladesh.

The event titled ‘Legend of the Decade’ featured both local Bangladeshi and Pakistani bands. Originally scheduled to be held at Dhaka Arena. However, heavy rainfall prompted a last-minute change in the venue. What was set to be an unforgettable night of music quickly descended into chaos, leaving fans disappointed as the headlining act, Pakistani band Jal, was forced to cut their performance short in Dhaka.

Humongous fans thronged the Jamuna Future Park, spiraling the event into chaos. Fans peered from railings across all eight floors of the mall, even taking over elevators, captivated by Goher Mumtaz’s heartfelt rendition of the iconic ‘Aadat.’

A large number of fans reached the venue without tickets, making it unmanageable for the management. Poor technical system, chaotic crowd, and failed management abruptly ended the concert. Gohar Mumtaz left the stage without having a farewell note to the audience. Fans were left visibly upset.

The overwhelming response by Bangladeshi fans to the Pakistani band shows the cultural and political ties between the two countries are restored. Later the band posted a message on Instagram that read that more than 10,000 people had thronged the venue making it impossible for the management and security staff to manage the crowd, hence, the army was called in. He said he had to leave the stage to control the situation.

Gohar added that he realized several people had traveled from different cities of Bangladesh to attend the concert, however, the lives of the people mattered more. He expressed gratitude to the fans for showing him love.
