The Islamabad High Court wrote a letter to the Law Ministry to relieve Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik of his duties. The move came after the judge met acting Chief Justice of the IHC and submitted an affidavit as reply to charges against him.
The development came after Maryam Nawaz revealed a video where Arshad Malik allegedly confessed sentencing Ex PM Nawaz Sharif to a jail term ‘under pressure’.

However, the affidavit contained more than just an explanation to the charges leveled at him by PMLN leader Maryam Nawaz. It contains a detailed account of how the Sharif family and their associates allegedly offered bribes and used pressure tactics to get favorable verdicts.
Soon after, the Judge also met with Hussain Nawaz son of the convicted former PM. As Judge Malik went for Umra, Hussain was allegedly already waiting for him. A bribe of Rupees 500 million was allegedly offered.
The judge claims that he was pressured inside as well as outside the court. Offers allegedly included cash bribes as well as foreign citizenship. He also alleges that veiled death threats were conveyed to him.
However, the most explosive claim made by the Judge in the affidavit alleges a meeting with Former PM Nawaz Sharif whose case he was hearing. The meeting took place in Jati Umra where bribery offers were made.
Soon after, the Judge also met with Hussain Nawaz son of the convicted former PM. As Judge Malik went for Umra, Hussain was allegedly already waiting for him. A bribe of Rupees 500 million was allegedly offered.
