Asif Ali Zardari likely to be the president for the second time

Before this announcement, PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had expressed that his party would extend support to PML-N in electing its prime minister, without directly joining the federal government.

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is likely to become the President of Pakistan for the second time. PPP has refused to sit in the federal government with PMLN.

PMLN, PPP, MQMP, IPP, BAP, and PMLQ have decided to form a PDM-style government. Following a meeting at the residence of PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, key leaders from six parties have announced a coalition alliance for the upcoming government. Former president Zardari stated in a press conference that the decision had been made collectively to form the government together.

Before this announcement, PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had expressed that his party would extend support to PML-N in electing its prime minister, without directly joining the federal government.

Shehbaz Sharif has emerged as the prime ministerial candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), replacing his elder brother Nawaz Sharif. The decision came after a series of last-minute developments within the party, leading to speculation and anticipation among political observers and the public alike.

The decision was announced by former federal information minister and PMLN spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on X. Nawaz Sharif’s decision to withdraw from the prime ministerial race reflects the position of PML-N’s amidst allegations of rigging.

Despite previously being nominated as the sole PM candidate from PMLN, Nawaz recognized the need for adaptation in light of the split mandate and changing political landscape. He has managed to sideline himself from the PDM 2.0 in an attempt that is seen by many as a face-saving move.

Meanwhile, PTI is looking forward to conducting intra-party elections as soon as possible to get their party symbol back. As per Barrister Ali Zafar, the party elections will be conducted in the next 10 days.

The jailed leader Imran Khan has nominated Ali Amin Gandapur as the next Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Maryam Nawaz will be the Chief Minister of Punjab.
