Atif Aslam makes to Spotify list of US politician Ilhan Omar

Ilhan Omar, a US politician, says Pakistani singer Atif Aslam is on her Spotify list featuring Muslim artists on Tuesday this week. She posted a picture of herself that read, ‘Muslim Vibes’ with a caption: ‘Taking over Spotify this week. Check out my first playlist of Muslim artists and comment below who is on your playlist.’

She mentioned Atif Aslam along with other renowned Muslim artists from all over the world. The list included famous British singer and song-writer, Sami Yousaf and British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed as well.

It is uncertain if she listens to Atif Aslam and even understands the Urdu language but for now Atif Aslam has found an admirer in an American politician. Ilhan Omar’s inclusion of Atif Aslam has excited his fans all over the globe who are glad over singer getting international recognition.

The singer has a massive fan base in the South Asian countries of India and Pakistan, is now making waves globally. Aslam has sung numerous record-breaking tracks for Bollywood. At one point in time, he was among the leading singer in India giving tough competition to local singers and musicians. He has sung for various A-list Bollywood heroes including Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and others.

He was also featured in the ‘Forbes Top 100 Digital Stars in Asia’ a list released late last year.

For Atif Aslam, Forbes said, “Released in May, his song Asma-ul-Husna recites Allah’s 99 names to encourage hope during the pandemic and has over 22 million views on YouTube. Aslam urged his 20 million Facebook followers to stay home to curb the spread of the coronavirus.”

He was also included in the 500 Influential Muslims list issued by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan last year. According to the list, Atif Aslam has the 19th most popular social media presence that is held by a Muslim.
