Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar as his special assistant on interior and legal affairs.
According to the details, the Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard.
“The Prime Minister is pleased to designate Mr. Attaullah Tarar as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Interior and Legal Affairs, with the status of Federal Minister, with immediate effect,” the notification from the Cabinet Division read.

Attaullah Tarar was earlier serving as Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Narcotics Control. Earlier on July 28, the PML-N leader was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, which is equivalent to the status of a Federal Minister.

Attaullah Tarar is the Deputy Secretary General of PML-N and had served as the Interior Minister and the Spokesperson of the Punjab Government in Hamza Shehbaz’s shortlived cabinet.
As a PML-N leader, Attaullah Tarar is very vocal and often holds press conferences. Earlier, Attaullah Tarar said that PML-N had resolved to ensure that the assembly completes its stipulated term. He added that they had filed a review petition over Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s election but it has yet to be heard.
He further said that in the event advice is sent by the Punjab chief minister to dissolve the provincial assembly, the governor was constitutionally empowered to direct the chief minister to first obtain a vote of confidence.
He added that PTI Chairman Imran Khan should update his dictionary, as the Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was no longer the biggest dacoit in Punjab as his son Moonis Elahi had taken over that mantle.
“I believe when they leave the government, their hands and leg would start shaking at the thought of what may happen to them,” he said.
