Azaan echoed for the first time at UK’s 10 Downing Street

Greg Hands, Chairman of the Conservative Party, invited the Muslim guests to 10 Downing Street and appreciated Islam as the religion of peace and security.

In a historic move, Azaan echoed for the first time at 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Great Britain, in the UK. Iftaar was also organized at 10 Downing Street.

The Iftaar was organized at the Lancaster House as well. Leading Muslim figures and leaders were invited to Iftaar at both places. Special arrangements were made for Azaan- a call to prayer and recitation of the Holy Quran, and prayer.

Greg Hands, Chairman of the Conservative Party, invited the Muslim guests to 10 Downing Street and appreciated Islam as the religion of peace and security. He praised the contributions of the Muslim community in the development of Britain. Hands said that Ramzan has now become the religious and social culture of Britain.

At the Iftar dinner at the Lancaster House, British Secretary of State Kemi Badenoch and Business Minister Lord Johnson spoke to the participants and appreciated the efforts of Muslims living in London. Ministers expressed their interest in making London the center of Islamic financing in the world.

Pakistani cuisine was the highlight of both events. The food was prepared by celebrity chef Sulaiman Raza and Spice Village. The Iftar dinners at 10 Downing Street and Lancaster House spoke of the efforts of the government to promote interfaith harmony and religious and cultural diversity in London.

Last year, Azaan was recited at the historic Lord’s Cricket Stadium in the UK during an Iftar event organized to reconnect with the Muslim Community. The initiative was taken by England Cricket Board to strengthen religious harmony in society.

ECB organized its first-ever Iftar event at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s Cricket Ground. The iftar event was attended by high-profile dignitaries. The event was hosted by renowned commentators Aatif Nawaz and Tameena Hussain.
