Former skipper Babar Azam tweets on the ongoing conflict in Gaza as soon as he stepped down from the captaincy.
In the latest tweet on Friday morning, Babar Azam shared a picture of the Palestinian child along with a few verses dedicated to the people of Gaza. The cricketer expressed his solidarity with the Muslim brethren facing heinous Israeli aggression in Gaza for more than a month.
Reports claim that being the skipper of the Pakistan National Cricket Team was barred from tweeting expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza during the ICC ODI Men’s World Cup 2023.
Other players and teammates had tweeted in favor of Palestine by posting a picture of the Palestinian flag. Fans had eagerly awaited him to tweet for Gaza.

Earlier, Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Rizwan had dedicated his performance against Sri Lanka in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 to Gaza residents. His tweet caused a storm on social media, with cricket fans from cross-border India demanding ICC take action against him. ICC had refused to take action against Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Rizwan.

The next day Rizwan also tweeted for Gaza that read, “This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute to the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.”
Reports claim Rizwan was under extreme pressure to delete the tweet. He, however, did not delete the tweet. Meanwhile, the board had stopped Babar Azam, the then captain of PCT from tweeting for Gaza.
Now that he is no longer the captain, Babar Azam like his fellow cricketers stood up for Gaza. His tweet has garnered massive traction on X.
