Bangladeshi fan allegedly assaulted during IND-BAN Test match

The incident happened inside the stadium. Roby was rushed to hospital after he was bullied and allegedly assaulted by fans of the Indian cricket team.

Bangladeshi fan ‘Tiger Roby was allegedly beaten and assaulted by Indian team cricket fans during the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur on Friday.

The incident happened inside the stadium. Roby was rushed to hospital after he was bullied and allegedly assaulted by fans of the Indian cricket team.

The fan, known as “Tiger Roby,” was dressed in a tiger costume – the emblem of the Bangladesh cricket team – and was standing in the C Block balcony of Green Park Stadium, where the incident took place.

Video circulating on social media shows, security officials and medical officials carried him out of the stadium. He was later seated on a chair and given water. Roby was hospitalized after falling ill. “He was gasping for breath when he met a constable. He became unconscious before we could speak to him, but now he is fine,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander was quoted as saying in the PTI report.
However, the local journalist reported that Roby was beaten by fans of Indian cricket fans. He angered the fans by insulting some of the Indian players. The furious fans tried to snatch the flag of Bangladesh from him, and he was slightly hit in the incident. “He wasn’t beaten, nor was it a case of dehydration. He did get hit slightly, but then he overdramatized the incident,” the journalist told this correspondent.
According to Indian media, Roby changed his statements, later on. “I fell ill and the police brought me to the hospital. Now I am feeling much better. My name is Roby and I have come from Bangladesh,” he stated in a short video clip.

“During the Test match between India and Bangladesh, one of the spectators whose name is Tiger, suddenly fell ill,” said the ACP Abhishek Pandey Kalyanpur in his statement.

“As soon as he fell ill, he was picked up by the police and was sent to the medical team for treatment. He is fine now and a liaison officer has been attached to him so that he can get help if needed.

“There were some reports of assault but these are baseless, no such incident happened with him. He might have taken a fall, this is what we have been able to gather,” he added.
