BBC News at Ten has apologized for using the pictures of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor in their honorary video clip for late legendary actor Shashi Kapoor.
#BBCNewsTen is very sorry wrong images were used to mark the death of Shashi Kapoor. Not our usual standards and I apologise for any upset.

Hang on @bbcnews Shashi Kapoor has died not Amitabh Bachan or Rishi Kapoor, who you’ve weirdly used to illustrate the story. pic.twitter.com/48jo6DGjU6

Talking to Twitter, the programme’s editor Paul Royall said the slip was not of the programme’s “usual standards”.
“BBC News at Ten is very sorry wrong images were used to mark the death of Shashi Kapoor,” he wrote. “Not our usual standards and I apologise for any upset.”
BBC made a mistake that many say is inexcusable. In a video tribute to the legendary actor, Shashi Kapoor, who recently passed away, they praised his accomplishment and ended up showing clips of Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan.
People immediately hit the BBC’s news research department with criticism. They questioned the organization of its professionalism and its standard of research.

To many this big mistake from such a reputable news organization was unbelievable.
Scores of protesters took to Twitter to express their anger.
BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live presenter Aasmah Mir wrote: “I’m really annoyed about the BBC Shashi Kapoor thing. Does anyone give a damn? If you do, please tweet the editor Paul Royall.”
In another comment, a user said “Someone at the BBC thought the brown person in this VT is the same person. Worse still neither of them are the deceased actor Huw refers to. It’s poor when it would have taken them seconds to verify. Not enough care.”
