BBC includes Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan in top 25 travel destinations

Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan has been included in the top 25 travel destinations by BBC. The region has been included in the list for its incredible travel experience, environment, and beautiful landscape.

The BBC has released a list of the 25 best travel destinations in the world for the year 2025 with input from its travel journalists as well as the United Nations World Travel Organisation, Sustainable Travel International, the Black Travel Alliance, and the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Pakistan has been placed at the 20th spot on the list. BBC recognized the several arrangements made by Pakistan in its tourism sector to attract foreign tourists. It also appreciates the natural wonders including the five of the 14 8000-ers including K2 in the GB region.

“The country is hoping a slew of responsible tourism initiatives and new sustainable efforts will lure eco-conscious visitors to explore its breathtaking northern regions; home to five of the planet’s 14 peaks towering over 8,000m – including the world’s second highest, K2,” said BBC.

“Salam Pakistan (Pakistan’s first-ever national tourism brand, which launched in 2023) allows travelers to easily apply for e-visas and make bookings on the digital platform, including the coveted mountaineering and trekking visa,” it said further.

Calling it a “heaven’s gate”, BBC describes the region as “brimming with lush valleys, pristine lakes, and glacial waterfalls. Cradled between trails are the Hunza Valley’s fragrant cherry blossoms and apricot orchards, undulating Unesco-listed Deosai plains and Shangri-La-esque mirrored lakes.”

Not just BBC, earlier this month international publications Financial Times and CNN Travel, also included Pakistan in their list of top travel destinations for 2025.

Financial Times recognized Pakistan as one of the top 50 holiday destinations for 2025 by the Financial Times. The publication cites the country’s “dramatic mountain scenery” as key attraction.

Gilgit-Baltistan was named one of the world’s top 25 destinations for 2025 by CNN Travel. According to CNN, Gilgit-Baltistan offers unparalleled adventure opportunities, including hiking, paragliding, and mountaineering.
