President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko arrives for a bilateral visit to Pakistan on Monday. The official visit to Pakistan will continue for three days. The President landed in Islamabad.
Prior to his arrival, a 68-member delegation from Belarus had already reached Pakistan. The delegation included the Belarusian foreign minister, minister for energy, minister for justice, minister for transport, minister for natural resources, minister for emergencies, and chairman of the Military Industry Committee.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had received the delegation that included top 45 Belarusian businessmen as well.
“They underlined the importance of Pakistan-Belarus relations and reaffirmed commitment to promote mutually beneficial cooperation,” FO said.
“The two sides expressed satisfaction at the momentum of bilateral exchanges and high-level visits between Pakistan and Belarus and expressed the hope that President Lukashenko’s visit will further boost bilateral relations.”
The FO statement further added that the Belarusian President “will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and discuss areas of bilateral cooperation and engagement”.
“The visit of the President of Belarus reflects the strong and growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus,” read the statement from the Foreign Office of Pakistan.
The visit of the Belarusian President comes amid the protest of PTI at Islamabad’s D-Chowk. Meanwhile, thousands of protestors from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab are heading to Islamabad under the leadership of CM KPK Ali Amin Gandapur on the final call of Imran Khan.
