Bollywood veteran actor Sanjay Dutt diagnosed with 3rd stage lung cancer

"Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for some medical treatment. My family and friends are with me and I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate," wrote Sanjay Dutt on Twitter.

Bollywood veteran actor Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. The actor is hospitalized in Lilavati Hospital Mumbai after he reported symptoms of chest pain and breathlessness.

The actor was admitted to the hospital on Saturday 8th August and was discharged from the hospital on Monday. The actor will soon be flying to the USA for his medical treatment.

Earlier on Tuesday, the actor announced that he would be soon taking the short break from the work for his cancer treatment.

Sanjay Dutt battling with cancer

Sanjay Dutt also put a statement for his fans on his Twitter account. In his statement he assured his fans he would soon return to work. “Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for some medical treatment. My family and friends are with me and I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!” Sanjay Dutt wrote on Twitter.

He also informed his fans that he is doing fine and has been tested negative for COVID-19. Sanjay Dutt became the top trend on Twitter soon after the news of illness circulated on social media. The fans and followers of 61-year-old Sanjay Dutt expressed love and extended warm prayers for his early recovery.

While the news left his fans, followers and industry colleagues upset- several celebrities like Urmila Matondkar, and Yuvraj Singh were the first ones to express solidarity with the actors. They believe Sanjay Dutt will win this battle with cancer too.

Celebrities wished him a speedy recovery

Yuvraj tweeted, “You are, have, and always will be a fighter @duttsanjay I know the pain it causes but I also know you are strong and will see this tough phase through. My prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery.”

Urmila Matondkar also shared a picture with Sanjay Dutt and wrote, “Such an upsetting n horrible news that @duttsanjay has been diagnosed with lung cancer..but then again he has been such a fighter all his life..here is wishing him a speedy recovery.”

The actor is married to Manyata Dutt and has two children. He is the son of famous Bollywood couple Nargis and Sunil Dutt. His mother also died of pancreatic cancer.

His wife also released a statement on the speculations related to his health.

“There is a lot that the family has gone through in the past years but I am confident, this too shall pass,” said Manyata Dutt in a statement. The mother of twin children also made a plea not to fall prey to speculations and rumours, but to just pray for them.

“Sanju has always been a fighter, and so has our family. God has yet again chosen to test us to overcome the challenges ahead. All we seek is your prayers and blessings,” said Manyata.

Sanjay Dutt-upcoming movies

On the work front, Sanjay Dutt last appeared in multi-cast film Kalank. He is awaiting the release of his two films- Sadak 2 with Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor and Bhuj: The Pride of India. Both the movies will be released on Disney Plus Hotstar.

Earlier the filmmakers of Sadak 2 released the poster of the film earlier. But have postponed the release of the trailer after an unexpected twist of event. The trailer was to be released on Tuesday, August 11th. However, the filmmakers delayed the release of the trailer of the movie without further notice after the news of Sanjay Dutt suffering from cancer broke the media.

But, commentators expect the release of the trailer soon since the movie Sadak 2 is set for the release on August 28th. Meanwhile, the work on Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming flick Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor is postponed for an indefinite period due to his health woes.
