Bomb blast in Lahore kills 3, injures over 20

The injured were transferred to the city’s Mayo Hospital. According to reports, eight of the injured are in critical condition. Security forces personnel cordoned off the area and cleared it from unconcerned persons.

A bomb blast took place in the busy Anarkali area of Lahore. The blast killed 3 people including a child. Meanwhile, it injured around 28 people.

Rescue teams transferred the injured to the city’s Mayo Hospital. According to reports, eight of the injured are in critical condition. Furthermore, security forces personnel cordoned off the area and cleared it from unconcerned persons. The bomb disposal squad also initiated an investigation of the incident. The Counter-Terrorism Department also reached the site.

Harrowing videos and images of the incident are making the rounds on social media. Videos from the site show multiple shops and government offices located in the neighborhood. The office of the Federal Board of Revenue, too, is within walking distance from the explosion site.

Lahore DIG Operations, in a media briefing later, said it is suspected an explosive device was planted on a motorcycle. “But we would only be able to confirm this after the final investigation,” the DIG said.

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, while taking notice of the incident, directed I.G. Punjab Police to submit a report of the bombing. He also directed for providing the best healthcare facilities to the injured.

“Those responsible for the blast will be arrested soon and brought to justice.” Chief Minister of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of precious human lives in the blast.

Pakistan expresses grief over Lahore incident

Pakistanis are currently expressing sorrow over the blast in Lahore. Regarding this, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that a blast in an area like Anarkali was incredibly sad and disturbing. She prayed for those killed and injured in the incident.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the families of those killed in the blast. Meanwhile, PPP’s Sherry Rehman said she was “shocked and sorry” to hear about the blast in Lahore.
