Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, burst into tears during a hearing at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Monday. She asserted that there exists no justice and law in the country.

She appeared for a court hearing for the bail of Imran Khan.  She expressed frustrations with the systematic injustice in the country. “There is no justice. I didn’t come here seeking justice,” she said emotionally. Questioning the integrity of the judicial process, she added, “Is the person inside [Imran Khan] not a human? Do the judges not see this?” She further stated that this would be her last appearance, voicing her disillusionment with the legal system.

Last month, she was released from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in a case concerning the acquisition of an expensive Bulgari jewelry set from the Toshakhana at a reduced price. The jewelry set, valued at Rs.71.5 million, was allegedly retained by the former premier and his spouse for Rs2.9 million.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb presided over the hearing, where Bushra Bibi’s counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar, and FIA prosecutor Umair Majid Malik presented their arguments. The court questioned why Imran Khan was implicated in the case if Bushra Bibi had not declared the gifts. The FIA prosecutor reiterated that state gifts must be submitted and can only be retained after proper purchase through a legal process.
