Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad has decided to renovate the iconic landmark Faisal Mosque. According to the details, the mosque has not been renovated for four decades.
CDA will allocate Rs.200 million for renovation from its own budget. The restrooms and parking area of the mosque require maintenance work. CDA has recognized Faisal Mosque as an important landmark. The grant it receives from the federal government falls short of the required maintenance work needed in the mosque.
CDA Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal has issued instructions to the engineering and finance staff to prepare a PC-1 for the complete renovation of the Faisal Mosque. Directives were issued during a meeting on Friday.
A separate directorate will be established for the renovation of the mosque that will have teams for horticulture, maintenance, and civil and electrical works. The illumination and solarization of the mosque will be done. Parking will be made free of cost. Also, no license will be issued in the area to preserve its sanctity and natural beauty. The instructions will soon be issued to the Municipal Administration Directorate.
King faisal mosque really needs a renovation from outside and proper care taker, if Pakistan can't do that then it should be given to Saudi authorities to take care of it.

Last year, Faisal Mosque was listed among the 50 most beautiful buildings in the world. Roofing Megastore conducted scientific research and placed the mosque at the 16th spot.
Faisal Mosque at the foothills of the Margalla Hills in Islamabad is the world’s fifth-largest mosque and South Asia’s largest mosque. The research organization analyzed the 100 most famous architectural buildings in the world through the dimensions of the ‘golden ratio’ to determine their visual attraction to the human eye.
“The fifth largest mosque in the world is striking from every angle, featuring a contemporary eight-sided design that’s inspired by a typical Bedouin tent. Taking a decade to build, today Faisal Mosque is a major tourist attraction in Pakistan while remaining an important place of worship,” Roofing Megastore described.
