COAS General Asim Munir Meets Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

COAS General Asim Munir's official visit to Saudi Arabia focuses on strengthening defense and security ties.

On Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir met Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to discuss defense, security, and regional cooperation, according to a statement from Pakistan’s military media wing.

The Saudi crown prince warmly received COAS Munir at the Royal Palace, where they had an in-depth conversation covering regional peace, defense collaboration, and strategies to strengthen bilateral relations. Munir expressed gratitude for the crown prince’s ongoing support for Pakistan and his role in promoting regional stability.

Additionally, General Munir met Prince Khalid Bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, where both reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in defense and security.

During the visit, Munir also held meetings with key Saudi defense officials, including Engineer Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defence; Air Chief Marshal Fayyadh Bin Hamed Bin Raqeeb Al Ruwaili, Chief of General Staff of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces; and Lieutenant General Fahad bin Saud Al-Johani, Chief of the Royal Saudi Land Forces.

This meeting comes shortly after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia for the Future Investment Initiative (FII). During his visit, he also met the crown prince to discuss ongoing collaborations, which include the recent addition of $600 million to Saudi Arabia’s $2.2 billion pledged investment in Pakistan.

Last month, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) totaling over $2 billion during the visit of a Saudi delegation led by Investment Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, aimed at bolstering bilateral trade and investment.
