Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir extended New Year greetings to the nation and affirmed the Pakistan Army’s dedication to bolster national security and development.
In his special message on New Year’s Eve, the army chief remarked, “The challenging yet significant year of 2023 has concluded. The Pakistan Armed Forces extend warm wishes for a happy New Year to the proud and honorable people of Pakistan.”

General Munir emphasized the immense significance of the year 2024 for Pakistan, both internally and externally. He underlined the Armed Forces’ commitment to nurturing the patriotic spirit of serving the motherland, describing it as a land of abundant “bounties and countless opportunities.”
“Our great nation will undoubtedly rise, aligning with the dreams of our forefathers and the aspirations of the people of Pakistan. InshaAllah, a bright future awaits the coming generations,” he stated.
General Munir, following the honorable Prime Minister’s directive, expressed solidarity with and extended prayers for the resilient people of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir [IIOJK]. He expressed hope that the New Year would bring relief to their sufferings under tyrannical regimes, as quoted by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar had earlier announced a ban on all New Year celebrations across the country, citing solidarity with Palestinians facing Israeli brutality.
“As a national army, the Pakistan Army is committed to leaving no stone unturned in contributing to national security and development. We take pride in our unwavering commitment to the people of Pakistan. The spirit of Pakistan is indomitable,” added the army chief.
