No Work on CPEC’s Western Route? This is propaganda: Chief Secretary Balochistan

QUETTA, February 14, 2017: The Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Saif Ullah Chattha, has refuted a news item attributed to him that not a single inch of land has been acquired for CPEC’s Western route.

In a statement issued, Mr. Chattha clarified that work is already being done on Zhob-Moghul Kot section. He added that initially it was going to be a four-lane highway but procurement of land for six lanes has been acquired.

Chief Secretary said news item attributed to him saying no money being spent on western route, was baseless.”The propaganda is baseless and only an attempt to get cheap popularity”

He said that during the last meeting in Beijing, Pakistan-China joint working group approved $550 million under CPEC for this section.

Chief Secretary, added that survey has already been done for western route and additional Rs. 60 billion are being sought from the federal government. “Federal govt is likely to release funds for acquisition of additional land for the said route”, he observed.

He also said that two industrial zones were being established in Bostan, and Qila Saifullah adding land has already been acquired for Bostan Zone.

Balochistan government is seeking resources from China, Federal, provincial governments and donors to fund projects of the Western route in the province, he added.
