Pakistani cricketer Aamer Jamal has been fined Rs 14 lac by the Pakistan Cricket Board for writing 804 on his Test cap. The number is associated with the number of prisoners jailed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Cricket Board argued that players should not wear political symbols while representing Pakistan. The fine, however, has sparked debate online, with some justifying the fine and others calling the fine staggering for the cricketer.
Three other players were also fined PKR 500,000 each for returning late to their hotel during the tour to Australia. Four players were penalised in South Africa for violating the team’s curfew. Fined players included Salman Ali Agha, Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Abbas Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Usman Khan.
PCB urged that disciplinary matters are an internal matter and are not publicly disclosed, as revealing such details could impact players’ reputations.

Players are already under strict scrutiny from the cricket board following the team’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The Pakistan cricket team faced heavy trolling following their humiliating defeat to India in the 2025 Champions Trophy on Sunday, February 23.
India secured a dominant 6-wicket victory over their arch-rivals, which further complicated Pakistan’s campaign.
Moreover, the incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan expressed his disappointment over the Pakistan cricket team’s performance in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
“Imran believes cricket will eventually be destroyed when favoritism influences decision-making positions,” said Aleema Khan, sister of the PTI founder, while speaking to journalists outside Adiala Jail. Her remarks came in the wake of the Green Shirts’ early exit from the mega-event—the first International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament hosted by Pakistan in 29 years.
The defending champions suffered an opening defeat against New Zealand, a team that had already beaten them twice in the recently concluded tri-nation ODI series, which also featured South Africa.
